Nevis’ Premier Comments on Weekend Crime

(ZIZ News) — Nevis’ Premier, Hon. Vance Amory has offered his condolences to those who mourn the loss of Hueluo Pableto Hanley Cornelius who was killed late Sunday night.

Amory said his government, together with the police, will ensure that criminals know their behaviour is unacceptable.

“Our purpose is to do all in our power to deal with crime and to stamp it out, eradicate it, and certainly continue to have a zero tolerance to crime in Nevis and also in St. Kitts as well,” he said.

Amory added that crime has the potential to deter investors and tourists from the country and scare residents who want to enjoy the nation’s history, culture and food.

“Any incident of crime is a black mark against the country but it also has the potential to reduce the perception of people as to whether or not our country is safe and one of the things which we think is critical to the development and the economic growth of St. Kitts and Nevis is to have a place which is secure, which is safe so that those who invest and those who visit can know that their investment is safe and they can come and enjoy our beautiful countries, our beautiful islands,” he said.
