Fire at SKELEC’s Power Station in Needsmust

(ZIZ News) — A fire that appeared to have started just outside SKELEC’s Power Station at Needsmust quickly spread throughout Basseterre on Sunday.

While the cause of the fire is unknown, eyewitness reports indicate that old supplies of the island’s main electricity company, SKELEC, caught fire some time on Sunday morning.

Up to press time, fire officers attached to the St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Services were still on the scene trying to extinguish the flames.
