ZIZ News–11th September, 2013–Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education Ionie Liburd-Willett challenged participants in a one-day round table discussion on Monday September 9, to stand firm in their resolve to be committed to excellence in education whatever their sphere of influence.

Willette who was addressing the gathering as part of the celebration of education week, reminded the discussion participants that they were being given the opportunity to showcase the achievements and development of teachers, students and the education system and as such should make a valiant effort to seek to contribute to its advancement.

Education Officer Stanley Knight who chaired the opening ceremony for the discussion listed the issues of relevance to our educational development as standardization of education; the holistic value of technology in education; ensuring work readiness through training; curriculum analysis and review as well as yardsticks for measuring education success and redressing the short falls.

Knight said that the discussion had been planned so that at the end there would be clear recommendations based on concerns raised and discussed.

The event sought to identify issues and projections for the next decade.

Education week continued today September 11, with education pride day/open house.
