All young women invited to discuss depression at “Be Well and Bloom” event

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 26, 2019 (ZIZ News): Sugar For Your Heart Ministry is inviting young women to another of its “Be Well and Bloom” program events next week.

Founder of “Sugar For Your Heart Ministry”, Dentrecia Blanchette told ZIZ News that the “Be Well and Bloom” initiative will provide young women between the ages of 16-25 with information on ways to tackle depression.

Blanchette said Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Cherrilyn Crawford would be the featured guest presenter and spoke in detail about the topics that will be discussed.

The topics will include identifying the common signs and symptoms of depression, understanding the differences between the types of depression disorders, learning how to manage the condition through self-care, therapy, medication & diet as well as how to help someone we think may be suffering from depression.

She said the seminar is necessary because it has become extremely important for young persons to identify the symptoms of depression, which can manifest itself in several ways.

“You can have low grade depression for as long as two years or it can be just two weeks. It is more than just being sad. It’s a two week period for it to be diagnosed and so many persons don’t know that they have it because they just know that they’re feeling numb and they’re not motivated to do what they love to do but for the extreme cases we know that most persons can’t get out of bed, they don’t want to go to work, they’re not eating so there are those physical symptoms that may take place. So it is important for young persons to learn how to identify those symptoms and know when to get help”, she explained.

The “Be Well and Bloom” event will be held at the Ocean Terrace Inn on Sunday September 1 2019.

The free event is scheduled to run from 2:30- 4:00 in the afternoon and is being under the theme, “You good sis?”
