Inauguration of Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 17, 2019 (ZIZ News): On Tuesday, Government officials of Indonesia and St. Kitts and Nevis gathered at the offices of SKNHomes to appoint the Honorary Counsel of the Republic of Indonesia to St. Kitts & Nevis, Faron Lawrence.

The letter of Commission of the President of the Republic of Indonesia was recited followed by the presentation and the signing of the oath.

Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, His Excellency Priyo Iswanto said Mr. Lawrence’s duties will not only consist of connecting the interests of both countries but mutually creating opportunities that will be beneficial to both nations.

“Mr. Lawrence’s duty is to serve as a bridge not only to connect between the two ends namely the interest of our two countries Indonesia and St. Kitts and Nevis but also to make the two ends create mutual benefits from each other.”

Newly appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia to St. Kitts and Nevis, Faron Lawrence spoke about the importance of countries having a Consul for trade relationships.

“As a result of globalization in international trade, Indonesian and St. Kitts and Nevis businesses actively and progressively seek to export their goods and services to foreign states thus having a Consul for exploring and marketing the possibilities of trading with each other is extremely important.”

Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Mark Brantley spoke about the significance of the inauguration.

“It is significant because it marks yet again the journey on which we have embarked, a further step on that journey, it is significant because I’m told that other than Trinidad and Tobago this is the only other in the entire Caribbean and certainly the first in the Eastern Caribbean that the Republic of Indonesia is opening such a presence.”

Mr. Lawrence was also presented with a copy of the letter of Commission of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, an official identification pin of the Honorary Consul and the flags of both countries.

The office of the Honorary Consul, located at the Horsfords Complex at Wellington Road was also inaugurated with the cutting of a ribbon.

Mr. Lawrence is the first Honrary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia in St. Kitts and Nevis.
