Parks and Beaches Unit Hosts Weed Eating Competition

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 19, 2019 (ZIZ News): The Parks and Beaches Unit hosted a “Weed Eating” or grass cutting competition as part of its week of activities ON Wednesday September 18.

The “Weed Eating” competition was held on the outskirts of Dieppe Bay and continued through to the White Gate Development region.

According to Coordinator for Parks and Beaches Unit, Eardley Nisbett, the competition was divided among zones; namely the Basseterre zone and the rural zone.

The Rural zone was responsible for cutting the seaside while the Basseterre zone was responsible for cutting the Mountain side.

There were six weed eater operators on both sides of the road along with 4 grass rakers and two baggers to trash the trimmed grass for each zone.

The zones were judged based on speed, low level of trim, raking and overall cleanliness.

The Basseterre zone delivered and won the competition with a total of 86 points.

The Parks and Beaches week of activities are being observed under the theme, “It’s All About Parks and Beaches’.
