Residents in flood prone areas are being asked to make preparations for flooding to safe guard life and property and move to higher ground if flooding rains develop or a flash flood warning is issued.

This comes as Tropical Storm Karen moves towards the British Virgin Islands. According to the Met Office, feeder bands associated with this system continue to generate moderate to heavy showers across St. Kitts and Nevis and is expected to continue throughout the day.

As the Met services continue to monitor weather conditions, all persons are asked to stay tuned to ZIZ and other local media outlets for watch updates and possible warnings.

The flash flood watch is valid until 8 p.m. this evening.
