Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 20, 2020 (ZIZ Ne
ws): Members of Cabinet engaged with residents of Central Basseterre on Wednesday afternoon as part of the Team Unity Administration’s Vision 2020 and Beyond Walkthrough.
The Walkthrough formed part of the Team Unity Administration’s 5th Anniversary Week of activities since taking office in 2015.
The walk began at Government Headquarters, headed onto Central Street, continued on through several alleys and walkways in Constituency #2.
Some of the ministers were seen greeting and conversing with the residents of the area while others joined in local games such as the very popular Domino.
While speaking at the end of what was deemed a successful walkthrough, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Hon. Timothy Harris said the activity gave himself and the ministers the opportunity to listen to the concerns and views of the people.
Prime Minister Harris said the group will leave “with a better appreciation for some of the needs of the people’ noting that “it will be reflected in some of the government’s policy actions now and policy actions in the future”.
He also used the opportunity to pledge his government’s full commitment to ensure suitable representation for the people in the area.
The People’s Action Movement (PAM) caretaker for Central Basseterre, Ambassador Jonel Powell said that many persons in Central Basseterre were able to benefit from the government’s current policies and added that he was pleased with the walk’s positive outcome.
Also present at the walkthrough were Cabinet ministers the Honourable Ian Liburd; the Honourable Wendy Phipps, Honourable Eugene Hamilton and the Honourable Vincent Byron.
The next Vision 2020 Walkthrough is scheduled for Saturday, February 22 in St. Peter’s from 4:30 pm-7 pm.
