Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 28, 2020 (ZIZ News): With the new norm being to wear face masks in public places, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Hazel Laws addressed a concerned raised about the proper fit and maintenance of face masks during the NEOC’s COVID-19 Daily Briefing on Monday.
Chair of the COVID-19 Task Force, Abdias Samuel pointed out earlier in the briefing that persons in public places were observed with face masks around their necks and in their possession and not being worn.
Dr. Laws advised that masks must be worn appropriately while in public places.
“We advise persons when in public spaces to wear your mask as directed in terms of it should be covering your nose and your mouth and it should be properly tied behind your ears and behind your neck.”
She also advised that single-use masks must be disposed of properly with each use and homemade or locally made masks must be washed at the end of every day.
