St. Kitts Tourism Authority responds to questions of commercial flight resuming

Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 30, 2020 (ZIZ News): CEO of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Raquel Brown, addressed questions as to the when commercial flights will resume in St. Kitts and Nevis at the NEOC’s Daily Covid-19 Briefing on Wednesday.

The Ministry of Tourism recently announced that American Airlines will resume flights on June 6th however Ms. Brown said that the airline cannot resume flights if the border remains closed.

American Airlines reloaded the flights and they have announced that into the schedule that they will resume however they cannot resume if the border remains closed so therefor they’re just doing what an airline does which is they load their schedules of course if the borders are closed American Airlines will not be resuming their flights…. that goes for any other airline that would be coming to St. Kitts, however American Airlines is our main carrier and they do have a responsibility to provide this information.”

She also addressed the question of the requirements of passengers coming into the Federation by stating that the St. Kitts Tourism Authority will have to consult with the Ministry of Health.

We’ll have to work definitely with the Ministry of Health because everyone understands that with Covid-19 it is a social virus, the flight from Miami is 2 hours and 45 minutes and so there are precautions that will have to be taken at the Miami end and also on the receiving end.”

Brown also stated that the St. Kitts Tourism Authority will continue to work with the Ministry of Health and airline partners to ensure that there are no risks to the general health and safety of the Federation.
