Grandmother arrested for stabbing 8-year-old girl
ZIZ Newsroom…Basseterre, St Kitts (July 13 2010) – Police have arrested and charged 52-year-old Melvina “Mary” Kelly of Saddlers Village for the murder of her eight year old granddaughter, Belisha Edwards.
According to police reports, Belisha, who lived in Conaree but was visiting her father at the time, was found motionless at her grandmother’s house on Sunday 11th July with a wound to her neck.
On Tuesday an autopsy was performed on Belisha’s body.
Resident pathologist Dr. Adrian Nunez concluded that her death was due to complications resulting from a penetrated wound produce by a sharp instrument to the right side of the neck.
