New Zealand large and in charge Versus Windies

(Sports Page)The New Zealand team tightened the screws on day two of their first test match in the current series versus the West Indies.

Despite an early break through when Captain Daren Sammy clean bowled his opposite number Brendon Mc Cullum, after he added only four more runs to his overnight total, the Windies team was forced to sweat for quite some time after that.

The innings was dictated by Ross Taylor who went on to complete his maiden double century at this level. He was ably assisted by Wagner, Sodhi and Watling who all batted with determination and grit to pile on the runs and increase the pressure on the Windies team.

Eventually Captain Mc Cullum called them in with the grand total 609 for 9 when he declared the innings closed.

Things started badly for the visitors as Kirk Edwards and Kieran Powell both went cheaply but Daren Bravo and Marlon Samuels held on to the close to give the Windies team some degree of hope heading into the third day.
