“A Night Before UVI” Dubbed a Success
(ZIZ News) – The second annual ‘A Night Before UVI’ was described as fantastic!
A mainstay on the calendar of the St. Kitts Chapter of the University of the Virgin Islands’ Alumni Chapter, ‘A Night Before UVI’ is aimed at making new students comfortable before they journey on to university life.
That’s according to the Chapter’s President, St. Clair Hodge.
Hodge said the event makes them “aware of what is going to be happening at UVI, make their transition from here to there very comfortable whether it’s STT or STX; make their educational experience a whole lot better. Our aim is basically to provide some customer service to them as our family.”
The event was held on Thursday evening at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
Linda Smith, UVI’s Director of Alumni Affairs, said the role of the local chapter happens to be dual.
She said, “We’re also a recruitment and also retention unit for the institution. The UVI alum happens to have the highest concentration here in the federation. As a family, everyone knows about UVI, everyone attends UVI and one of the main objective and goal is to move that recruitment effort forward as the university continues to grow.”
The night was guided by the school’s tagline: “UVI Is for You”.
