ZIZ News — Commander of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defense Force, Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Wallace has described the notion that there are no academic opportunities in the force as “the misconception of the century.”
He said the SKNDF has a track record of giving soldiers an opportunity to improve themselves.
“We presently have one member overseas studying medicine and there’s another officer at the World Maritime University in Sweden. We have a member who obtained a Bachelors Degree in economics during his service here,” he said.
Wallace also noted how soldiers then use their training to improve the force and its facilities.
He said, “The engineer at the Public Works Department, who oversaw the renovation and expansion of the building, obtained his engineering degree while serving as an officer in the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force.”
Commander Wallace says this is part of the force and the government’s commitment to the personal development of the young men and women who serve in the force.
