Natalie John and two students

ZIZ News…Nov 23, 2012 — On Tuesday 20 November 2012, the Advancement of Children Foundation (ACF) played host to two local children chosen from the Dr. William Connor Primary School as part of an initiative by the Ministry of Community Development, Culture & Gender Affairs.

The initiative was to observe Child Abuse Prevention Week (18-25 November 2012) and the Permanent Secretary, Ms. Sharon Rattan, invited companies to host a student to lunch to celebrate ‘Universal Children’s Day’ on 20 November 2012.

The Chair of the ACF, Ms. Natalie John, agreed to host two children from the Dr. William Connor Primary School. The two students, 11-year old T’Zhuja Johnson and 10-year old Deon-Jay Audain, interacted with members of the ACF and the staff at Caribbean Governance Consultants. Lunch was served and enjoyed by all. T’Zhuja loves reading and wants to become a teacher. Deon-Jay is a keen sportsman and loves track and field; his favourite subject is Maths.

Founded in 2008 by the Rotary Clubs of St. Kitts and Liamuiga, the Advancement of Children Foundation is administered by a Board of Councilors. The Board is supported by five major contributors namely, Christophe Harbour, LIME, National Bank, St. Kitts Marriott Resort and TDC. Its mission is to be a catalyst for positive change, to establish a coalition of public, civic and private sector organisations to counteract negative trends in our society and, through the promotion of good parenting, family and social values, to make a positive change to the next and future generations.
