Agriculture Workers Urged To Train Colleagues

IICAAccountabilitySeminar-4(ZIZ News) — Permanent Secretary in Nevis’ Ministry of Agriculture, Eric Evelyn is urging persons in the agriculture sector to use the training they have received through the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture [IICA].

Speaking during an IICA Accountability Seminar on Wednesday, Evelyn said accountability goes both ways and anyone who has benefitted from IICA’s training should be putting their skills to use.

“No longer can persons go overseas, receive training, and nothing happens. The IICA office is ensuring that once that expertise is garnered overseas that once they return it is transferred to the other persons on the round to ensure that the agriculture industry benefits,” he said.

He said there is no way to know when the funding from agencies such as IICA will end, so persons should use every opportunity to pass on the knowledge and skills gained to their colleagues in the industry.
