American Eagle flights to Nevis resumes Thursday

American Eagle landing at the Nevis Airport

Nevis (December 15, 2010) – Premier of Nevis and Minister of Tourism in the Nevis Island Administration, the Hon. Joseph Parry expressed satisfaction with the return of American Eagle’s schedule flights to Nevis, after a two- year hiatus.

The airline is slated to return to Nevis on its first scheduled flight at 1:55pm on Thursday, December 16th.

“After two years of no direct flights between San Juan, Puerto Rico and Nevis since the closing of the Four Seasons Resort, I am very pleased with the recommencement of that important flight back to the island,” said Hon. Joseph Parry.

The Premier outlined the importance of the flight to the island and discussed the departure tax revenue it would generate for the Nevis Treasury. He explained that flights en route to North America and other destinations would now be able to leave out of Nevis, instead of sister island St. Kitts and that visitors to Nevis would now be able
to travel direct because of the American Eagle flight.

“With the re opening of the Four Seasons Resort and the resuming of the American Eagle flights to Nevis, it seems to me that 2010 will end on a positive note for Nevis,” said the Premier.

According to the United Kingdom and Europe Sales Manager for the Nevis Tourism Authority (NTA), Ms. Julie Claxton, a welcoming ceremony is planned for 1:30pm at the Airport in Newcastle and passengers of the American Eagle will be welcomed on arrival to Nevis. The passengers will be greeted with local drinks and the pulsating sounds of live steel pan music.

“We are happy to have the American Eagle flight resuming its schedule to Nevis. It will be a great boost to the island’s Tourism Sector,” commented Ms. Claxton.
