Anguilla Elections Supervisor says attachment in St. Kitts “beneficial and rewarding”

AurjulWilsonA(CUOPM) Anguilla’s Supervisor of Elections, Ms. Aurjul Wilson, says her recent attachment at the St. Kitts and Nevis Electoral Offices was “extremely beneficial and rewarding.”

Ms. Wilson in a statement at the end of her visit said “while in St. Kitts and Nevis of particular interest was the information garnered as it relates to the redrawing of electoral boundaries and the management structure established to facilitate this.”

“The aim of the attachment was to seek assistance in addressing some of the recommendations emanating from the 2010 Elections Report. Executive Council has approved the implementation of certain recommendations within the report,” said Ms. Wilson.

Anguilla’s next general election is constitutionally due in 2015.

“While all the recommendations cannot be in place by that time, steps are being taken to strengthen the legislation as it pertains to Campaign contributions and the use of electoral ink, revision of the nomination and registration forms as well as the production of a National Identification Card for registered voters,” said Ms. Wilson, adding that other initiatives of the Electoral Office include the development of an official website for the Anguilla Electoral Office.
