Aquatic Sports Meet

(ZIZ News) — Dozens of people gathered at the Basseterre Ferry Terminal on Monday for the Annual Basil Henderson Easter Monday Aquatic Sports Meet.

The annual event is organised by cultural preservationist Winston “Zack” Nisbett and his team.

“Everything is going down well. This year seems to be more attractive than last year. We have more prizes and the participation is overwhelming. We want to make sure everyone is comfortable, everybody is happy. That is what we come for: fun, excitement, and that is what they are getting,” he said.

Among the activities are the traditional swimming races, boat racing and greasy pole climb.

Local calypsonians including Calypso Craig and Fantastic Thunder provided entertainment in the afternoon.

This is the 58th year of the Aquatic Sports Meet which is dedicated to honouring the contributions and memory of the late Basil Henderson; the founder of the 4-h movement in St. Kitts and Nevis.
