Bank of Nova Scotia Partners with Ministry of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs

Basseterre, St Kitts — 16th August 2013 — With September fast approaching, students and parents are beginning to prepare for the start of the school year. Fifty Six students will go to school better equipped thanks to the management and staff of Scotia Bank.

A bank known for its community consciousness and its continuous outreach to young persons, Scotia Bank donated school bags filled with school supplies to primary school and high school students on Wednesday 14th August at a brief ceremony at the Victoria Road Community Centre. Ms. Aquisto, Operations Manager at the bank noted that monies for the school bags and supplies were raised by staff through a number of fundraising activities such as bake sales.

This good will gesture by the bank is in keeping with the Government’s mandate to ensure that every child in St. Kitts – Nevis is able to access their right to education and be afforded every opportunity to obtain academic certification and relevant skills to make them more competitive in the global economy.

The Ministry wishes to thank the management and staff of Scotia Bank and encourages them to continue reaching out to the community and playing an active role in the social and human development of our nation.
