Basic Military Course # 20 Closing Ceremony

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 7, 2020 (ZIZ News): To mark the end of a 20 weeks basic military training program a closing ceremony was held at Camp Springfield on Thursday.

The Basic Military Course No. 20 commenced on January 20th 2020. There was a break in training in March as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The recruits however gave their services during that time by engaging in hand-ons duties at various shopping centers and assisted at vehicle check points.

On June 8th the training resumed after 2 months and 11 days.

The 36 recruits which is comprised of 27 males and 9 females were trained in areas such as map reading and land navigation, first aid and physical training.

Prime Minister, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris during his remarks welcomed the graduates to the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force and congratulated them on their choice to be in service to their country.

Other officials in attendance were the Governor-General His Excellency Sir S W Tapley Seaton, GCMG,CVO,QC,JP, LL.D, Resident Ambassador to The Repulic of China (Taiwan), His Excellency Tom Lee Commissioner of Police, Hilroy Brandy and Fire Chief, Everette O’Garro.
