Basketball City Set to Explode with Action this Weekend

ZIZ News…Sept. 24 2010 – Basketball City will explode into action this weekend as SKABA’s 2010 playoff games get into high gear.

In the LIME Premier Division the playoff bracket has been set with the Rams Hitters taking the top spot, followed by the St. Paul’s Tuff Knotts, Cotton Ground Rebels and the defending champions, S.L. Horsfords Ghetto Roots are ranked fourth, the last position.

Last year Ghetto Roots defeated Hitters to win the 2009 championship title. However, this year one of those teams will not be in the finals.

The LIME ‘A’ Division playoffs started last Tuesday with the Blue Devils ranked as the top team, followed by the Village Tickers, Wolf Pack and Rootsie.

On that day the top seeded Blue Devils defeated Rootsie 72-66 in the best-of-five series. For Blue Devils Azziawh Niles had 25 points and 12 rebounds, while Jason Clarke had 12 points.

For Rootsie Jason Noland had 12 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Also Montroville Pemberton had six points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots.

Also the Female Basketball Championships Finals started with Blue Devils defeating Cayon 46-35. This best-of-three finals continued on Thursday, with Cayon seeking to regroup and push the finals to a third game.

Also on Thursday Village Tickers went up against the Wolf Pack in their first game of the playoffs.

On Saturday the Female Basketball Championship finals will continue in game 3 of Cayon versus the Lady Blue Devils, at 6:30 p.m. in Basketball City.

Following that matchup at about 8 p.m. Rootsie will seek to hold back Blue Devils in game 2 of the LIME ‘A’ Division playoffs.

On Sunday the playoffs of the Premier Division get on the way at 6:30 p.m. with Cotton Ground Rebels going up against St. Paul’s.

Then at 8 p.m., hundreds of Newtown fans are expected to converge in Basketball City to cheer their team against the Rams Hitters team.
