BHS Management rejects Ministry proposal to resolve School Issues

BHSFilePhotoC(ZIZ News) — ZIZ News has received information that another meeting was convened on Tuesday afternoon between Ministry of Education officials and Management of the Basseterre High School. Other stakeholders in the matter were reportedly present as well.

During the meeting a number of proposals were made by the Ministry of Education with a view to resolving the matter, even temporarily, until a mutually agreed long term solution is arrived at.

The Ministry’s proposal included the temporary transfer of teachers and students reporting illness to a school of their choice, mobilizing a group of experts to carry out further investigations at the school and additional repair to buildings on the school campus.

Well placed sources told to ZIZ News however, that the management of the school rejected the Ministry’s proposals completely and accused the Ministry of trying to “mash up” Basseterre High School.

The source further informed ZIZ News that the only solution the management of the school was willing to discuss was a shift system with Washington Archibald High School.

The BHS administrators also suggested the purchase of trailers to facilitate classes at a location away from the BHS campus as a longer term measure to address the problems.
