Bus driver suffers leg injuries in Halfway Tree Traffic accident

TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT (October 5th 2012) — The Police in Sandy Point are investigating a traffic accident that occurred along the Island’s Main Road in Half Way Tree at about 6:25 am on October 5th 2012.

The accident involved motor omnibus H6470 driven by Kishma Clarke of Sandy Point and motor omnibus H 8261 driven by Wayne Grant of Challengers. Investigations revealed that both vehicles were travelling towards Basseterre and were overtaking a parked vehicle on the mountainside of the road when they collided. H 6470 ran off the road on the seaside and collided to a house.

No injuries were reported by any of the passengers but the driver of H 6470 who had to be extricate by the Fire and Rescue Services sustained leg injuries and was taken to the JNF Hospital where he was treated and warded in stable condition.

The right rear side of H 8261 was damaged, the front portion of H 6470 was extensively damaged as well as the house. No passengers were travelling on H 6470, while H 8261 was carrying a full load.

Investigations are ongoing.
