BUSHWACKERS Set To Win Finals-Michael WISE Herbert

Community Liaison Officer and one of the founders of the BUSH WACKERS Cricket team, Michael WISE Herbert on Tuesday stated that he would ‘put his neck on a limb’ and predict that his Rawlins BUSH WACKERS team will triumph over their more renowned rivals in Pennyless All stars, come Thursday, as they face off in the Development Bank/Nevis Sports Department tape ball Cricket league finals.

Herbert was quick to point out that this is the third time that the BUSH WACKERS team has made it to the finals in similar tournaments held locally.

He also noted that the team’s biggest asset is that it is well rounded in ability and the cricketers are gelling well together and working as a unit.

He further stated that the team is performing well in all areas—with the bat; the ball and in the field.

Referring to the Pennyless All Stars team, he observed:  ‘They flew in Stuart (Williams) from New Zealand but they will have to fly In Brian Lara and a few more before they could beat the BUSH Wackers.’

He also stated that at the end of the game only one team will be celebrating.  ‘The Bush Wackers men will be back in Rawlins eating their rice and monkey meat,’ he said.

Herbert also noted that consideration is being given to the possibility of bringing the popular Rawlins masquerades and big drum to the Park on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Ag. Director of Sports, Jamir Claxton, on Tuesday indicated that plans are being finalized for the grand finals slated for Thursday 23rd January.
