ZIZ Broadcasting Corporation – March 25, 2011 – Calypso fans are in for a treat on Saturday March 26, 2011, when some of the leading calypsonians in the Federation take to the stage at Carnival Village to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of ZIZ Radio.

This is another in the series of events planned to mark this significant milestone in the history of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Over twelve calypsonians have registered to be part of this event singing one song on any aspect of ZIZ Radio during its fifty year history. The calypsonians will be backed by the Grand Masters and according to Wingrove Williams the rehearsals have been going quite well so far. Most of the songs have received good reviews from members of the listening audience who had an opportunity to hear those which have been released thus far.

The show will also receive a boost with a side show featuring veterans of the art form in the King Arrow out of St. Kitts but who resides in St. Marten and the King Meeko out of the sister island of Nevis. These two calypsonians are expected to sing some of their vintage songs that will resonate in the ears of those calypso pundits as far back as the seventies and the early eighties. Speaking with ZIZ News, Arrow said he is well prepared for this show as this will be the first time in a long while he would be performing before fans in St. Kitts and Nevis.
