Carlene Henry-Morton, New Permanent Secretary for Tourism

(ZIZ News) – Former Principal of the Basseterre High School, Carlene Henry-Morton is the new Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism.

In speaking with ZIZ News, Henry-Morton said she welcomes the opportunity to serve in the capacity of Permanent Secretary to a ministry that she considers critically important to the economy.

Henry-Morton taught for 33 years and confesses that this field is a brand new territory.

Notwithstanding, she told our reporter she knows there is a lot to learn and she intends to instill a team-based working environment.

She says the key ingredients in an organisation are collaborating, sharing ideas, growing and developing together.

Morton took up her post on Monday morning and dived right in to work as she attended an assessment meeting on the inaugural Restaurant Week.

The new Permanent Secretary takes over from Diannille Taylor-Williams, who was Acting Permanent Secretary since November 2014 following the retirement of then P.S., Patricia Martin.
