Cayon Primary Boys above the National average
ZIZ News–11th September, 2013–The boys at the Cayon Primary School did exceptionally well in their last exams. This was disclosed last night during a panel discussion on ZIZ TV.
As education week rolls on, the panel discussion discussed the topic “Assessment Of Student Achievement: Implications For Education System.”
In it, Winsford King, Curriculum Development Unit representative said since the Ministry introduced single-sex education into three schools: Cayon, St. Pauls and Beach Allen Primary, in two of them the girls did better than the boys in all subject areas, except Mathematics at Beach Allen for Grade 3.
He added according to the results of the last promotion exams, the boys in Grades 3 and 4 at the Cayon Primary, actually performed above the national average.
Other panellists included solomon Claxton, National Cxc Registrar; Dennis Knight, Chair of The National Education Advisory Board; and Dr Tricia Esdaille a Senior Education Officer.
The department of education is celebrating this week as education week, under the theme “Commitment To Excellence”.
