CEMS/SPHS 50th anniversary organizing committee gears up to host 4 Health and Wellness drive

(ZIZ News) — As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, the organizing committee for the Sandy Point High School now Charles E Mills Secondary’s anniversary celebrations is gearing up to host its “4 Health And Wellness” drive next week.

ZIZ spoke with the Project Coordinator Dorothy Markman-Caines who explained what inspired the initiative.

“I am a Community Development Officer and I’ve worked within the communities and I realized that some of our residents are now having health issues and one of the things that we want to promote is to eliminate or stop the surge of health issues by having natural activities. [That includes] natural foods natural things that you can do within your home”, she said.

Caines then proceeded to list a few activities that persons can expect from the event.

“We will be doing Zumba. That should be fun. We will have standing aerobics, some segments of Yoga and we would have health specialists who would have passed through the school giving nutrition and health soundbites. We would have Dr. N Wilson, Mrs. Latoya Duncan, Dr. J Woodley and a number of others would be there”, she added.

She then used the opportunity to invite all persons and encouraged members of the sandy point and neighbouring communities to lend their support.

“We are inviting all residents from the Sandy Point area as well as the neighbouring communities, the supporting schools, persons who passed through the Sandy Point High School or persons attending the Charles E Mills Secondary school. We are asking you to attend, it’s going to be from 6 to 8 in the morning and we are providing transportation for you to get there”, Caines explained.

She also encouraged persons to register and added that the event is free. However, breakfast would be available for purchase.

The “4 Health And Wellness” drive will be held at the old recreation ground in sandy point on Saturday, February 18.
