CFBC and TVEMS Capstone Project

Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 31, 2019 (ZIZ News): The work of the Information Technology Division at the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College was on display on Friday morning at the IT Capstone Project at The Marriott Resort.


The CFBC Information Technology Competency Based Capstone Project is an annual event where students at the Technical Vocational Educational and Management Studies IT Programme showcase projects in seven technology related sectors.

Throughout the event the students interact with attendees and while being assessed by members of the private sector.

During the opening ceremony, IT Programme Coordinator Dr. Ricardo Neal explained that the goal of the project is to make sure students in the IT field get the exposure they receive.

President of CFBC Jacqueline Austin called on the private sector representatives to continue to support the college especially as the robotics students prepare to take part in the International Robotics Olympics in October in Dubai.

Minister of Education the Hon Shawn Richards said require students to apply skills or investigate issues across many different subject areas or domains of knowledge.

He said “Capstone projects encourage students to connect their projects to community issues or problems, and to integrate external school learning experiences, such as interviews, scientific observations, or internships. In other words, capstone projects support the development of skills that will help to prepare students for further study, modern careers, and adult life and have the potential to directly address issues of importance and relevance here in St. Kitts and Nevis.”

During the ceremony awards were presented to members of the team that represented the Federation at the First Global International Robotics Olympics in 2018.

According to officials since the implementation of the Capstone project The IT programme has seen the number of student applicants double.

Due to this improvement the officials say there are plans to possibly develop 8 bachelors program in information technology.
