Chamber Urges Farming Sector Growth

Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 10th, 2021 (ZIZ News) The Chamber of Industry and Commerce is calling on farmers to take a more business-mindset towards farming if the sector is to grow in the future.

Delivering an address at the recent Agriculture Annual Review Meeting Chamber President Giselle Matthews said agriculture production must be planned and strategized.

She also spoke of the Chamber’s role in establishing links between farmers, their produce and the consumer.

She said another factor that has put limitations on the sector is the attitude certain persons have towards farming.

Mrs Matthews also applauded the Government for injecting the $10Million into the Agriculture (including Livestock and Fisheries) last year to help boost the sector which was severely impacted by Covid-19.
