Child Month 2013 to focus on Early Stimulation

(EMU) – St. Kitts, May 31st, 2013: The 29th Edition of Child Month will be launched on Friday, May 31, with an official address by Minister of Education et al, Hon. Nigel Carty.

Under the theme: “Early Stimulation – The Key to Positive Child Outcomes,” Director of the Early Childhood Development Unit, Mrs. Jacquelyn Morris, said the focus of the month is important because it helps the public to get an appreciation of the impact of early stimulation activities on child development.

According to Mrs. Morris, educational success has a lot to do with the exposure that children receive from their early beginnings. She added that this would be reflected and expressed more substantially in the activities planned for Child Month in June 2013.

The preschoolers will participate in the first two activities of the month on Sunday, June 2 when they attend services at various churches around St. Kitts followed by the Early Childhood Promotion Day when they will participate in the placement of fliers around St. Kitts.

Other events planned for the month include zonal concerts around the Federation, a family food fair, Art and Craft Exhibition, Professional Development Day and Fun Day as well as the grand Parade and T-Shirt Day.

Karaoke and Fun Night will also make its debut on Saturday, July, 6 as a fitting climax to Child Month 2013.
