Christophe Harbor sponsors Elocution Competition

ChristopheHarbourStKittsLogoBasseterre, St. Kitts — Christophe Harbour Development Company has come on board as the major sponsor of the 2014 Independence High School Elocution Competition that takes place this evening Live on ZIZ television.

The competition, which is jointly organized between the Independence 31 Elocution Subcommittee and the Department of Constituency Empowerment, will see six high schools: the Basseterre High School, Washington Archibald High School, Verchilds, Charles E. Mills Secondary, Saddlers Secondary and Cayon High presenting a seven minute speech on the Independence theme “A Nation on the Move: Celebrating our Progress”.

Meanwhile, Christophe Harbour will hand over a cheque in the amount of XCD$8000 that will go towards the staging of the competition.

The funding will go towards prizes and trophies, logistics and setting up.

Since its commencement of operations in St. Kitts in 2008, the Christophe Harbour Development Company and the Christophe Harbour Foundation have been supporting various charitable events and projects.

Christophe Harbour believes that the more investment placed in the young people of St. Kitts, the more promising would be the island’s future.

It is therefore with much satisfaction that Christophe Harbour is pleased to support this year’s Independence High School Elocution Contest, recognizing the educational value and worth to our students.

The contribution comes as part of Christophe Harbour’s mandate to remain committed to the development of the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, especially its youth.
