Church Service Signals Start Of Activities Marking Development Bank’s 40th Anniversary
CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS, May 17, 2021 (DBSKN) — Members of the Board, Management, and Staff of the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis, on Saturday, May 15 attended a thanksgiving worship service at the Gingerland Seventh Day Adventist Church in Meads Pasture, Nevis, at the start of the financial institution’s 40th anniversary celebrations.
The Bank, which is wholly owned by the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis was established by an Act of Parliament No. 1 of 1981, is observing the two-week celebrations under the theme ‘Committed to you, dedicated to progress: DBSKN celebrates 40 years of Success’.
The team from the head office, Basseterre, led by Chairman of the Board, Mr. Warren Thompson, and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Lenworth Harris, journeyed to Nevis where they were met by the two Nevis-based Board Members, Mr. Floyd Harris and Mr. Stephen Jones, and Manager of the Nevis Branch, Ms. Hyacinth Pemberton, and the Nevis-based staff.
Also travelling from St. Kitts were Directors of the Board, Mr. Walton Jacob, Ms. Deniece Alleyne, and Dr. Dail Crawford. Senior Management Staff included Operations Manager, Mrs. Jasmine Irish; Manager M.I.S., Mr. Laurinston Matthew; Manager Human Resources, who is also Chairperson of the 40th Anniversary Committee, Ms Danienne Brin; Manager Audit Department, Mrs. Candace Godwin; Chief Compliance Officer, Ms. Avelyn Browne: and Acting Manager Accounts and Finance Unit, Ms. Tamara Herbert.
They were welcomed to the church by Elder Vertile Weekes who said to them: “Your presence here today is an indication that you recognise the role of God – the role that He has played in the success of your institution, and as such, you thought it fitting to come and give Him thanks and praise and honour for all of His goodness.”
Before Elder Weeks invited the Manager of the Nevis Branch, Ms. Hyacinth Pemberton, to deliver brief remarks, she thanked the visitors for choosing the Gingerland Seventh Day Adventist Church as their place of worship to celebrate the institution’s fortieth anniversary. She wished for God to continue to bless them and the institution in whatever endeavours they wish to undertake.
“The Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis receives extreme pleasure from its continuous work in serving and meeting the needs of the community,” said Ms. Pemberton. “Today it is our pleasure to worship with the greatest part of the Christian community – the church. The Development Bank is pleased to have served the people of the Federation in the areas of housing, education, and business over the past forty years and has made a significant impact during those years. Some members of this church can attest to that.”
Ms. Pemberton, who had started by thanking Pastor Delroy K. Josiah and his congregation for accepting Development Bank’s request to worship at the church in celebration of the financial institution’s 40th anniversary of service to the people of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, said they were honoured to be at the church.
“On this special morning, we would like to ask the Church to keep us in their prayers so that the Bank can have the power to continue making a significant sustained difference in the lives of the people of St. Kitts and Nevis for another forty-plus years,” concluded Ms. Pemberton.
On behalf of the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis, Ms. Pemberton presented a token of appreciation to Pastor Josiah. She wished him and the congregation all the best in their future endeavours.
“On behalf of the church here and the leadership, I just want to say special thank you to the Management and Staff of Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis, the Board of Directors also,” said Pastor Josiah. “It is indeed our pleasure to house you here today and we trust that this will not be the last time we see your lovely faces; that you will join us in the future at some point at your convenience for another time of worship, and thanksgiving.”
Prayer was offered by Elder Geran Browne who thanked the Lord for the guests, the representatives of the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis, who had joined them in worship that morning.
“As an institution which seeks to promote the economic growth and development of our Federation and people, we thank you for the past 40 years and we pray for its continued success according to your will,” prayed Elder Browne. “Bless, we pray, the members of staff at all levels as they plan for the future. As they execute their daily duties and navigate unfamiliar and tricky territory and make tough decisions we pray for your Spirit, your leading and guidance to be ever-present and even heeded whether in the boardroom or interacting with customers.”
Development Bank’s Customer Service Representative at the Nevis branch, Ms. Tywana Cranston, read from the Scriptures, Psalm 33:1-12, before Pastor Delroy K. Josiah delivered the sermon under the theme ‘We have come to praise Him!’
