Civil servant reshuffle

(ZIZ News) — Prime Minister Dr. The Hon Timothy Harris has announced a reshuffle in the positions of senior civil servants.

During the Prime Minister’s press conference on Wednesday Dr. Harris announced that the former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Andrew Skerritt will be moved to the Prime Minister’s ministry to address CARICOM initiatives in health, HIV, and human resources.

“Mr Skerritt’s Background as a health planner and experience as a permanent secretary in Health makes him a perfect candidate to liaise with the international community with regard to these issues. Health and HIV in particular. Liaising with PAHO, with PANCAP, and whoever else is necessary,” he said.

To fill the void left by Mr Skerritt, former Permanent Secretary of Education, Ionie Liburd Willet is being transferred to Health.

“I want to wish her well. I know that she will bring her quiet, mature approach as an educator, as a mother, and bring all of that experience to bear in helping in the forward thrust of the Ministry of Health. Experience matters, and the Ministry of Health will not be left wanting,” he said.

Prime Minister Harris said they plan to fill the Permanent Secretary of Education slot with a replacement from overseas.
