Constituency #2 candidates officially nominated on nomination day in St. Kitts and Nevis

Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 27, 2020 (ZIZ News): Two Candidates in Constituency #2 were officially nominated on Wednesday May 27 ahead of the 2020 General Election.

The action continued in Constituency #2 on Wednesday morning as ZIZ along with several other media representatives witnessed the official nomination of both representatives in the area.
The nomination ceremony took place at the Mc Knight Community Centre.
Candidate for the St. Kitts Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP), Hon. Marcella Liburd arrived at the nomination site with a crowd of bright red t-shirt wearing supporters. While People’s Action Movement (PAM) candidate, Ambassador Jonel Powell showed up half an hour after with a mini motorcade of bright yellow and black wearing, cheering supporters as well as vehicles decorated in bright black and yellow flags.
Each candidate was accompanied by two nominators who are registered voters in the polling division. This was followed by the signing of the Statutory Declaration of a Person Nominating a Candidate for Election as a Member of the National Assembly. Thereafter, the candidates read aloud their vows of identity and proceeded to paid their nomination fee of $EC150.
In St. Kitts, the People’s Action Movement (PAM) will be presenting 5 candidates, the People’s Labour Party (PLP) 3 and the St. Kitts Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) will be presenting 8. While on Nevis, the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) and the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) will be presenting 3 candidates each.
Both Liburd and Powell will contest in the general election for a seat in the National Assembly on Friday June 5 2020. There are over 45,000 persons on this year’s voters’ register.
