Construction of new prison in Estridge

ZIZ News…Wednesday 24th April, 2013 — A new 400-man prison facility soon to be built in Estridge will focus more on restorative justice and alternative options to hard punishment for convicted prisoners.

Officials say construction of the modern facility which is expected to start sometime in July will have accommodations that focus on the rehabilitation of its inmates.

The commissioner of police says that prisoners will have rehabilitative activities such as academic classes, drug treatment sessions, and the opportunity to work on the prison farm.

Commissioner Walwyn, who had dual training in the Unites States as a police and a correctional officer, says that he would be able to offer advice to the present head of the prisons.
