Consumer Affairs provides help for Back to School Shoppers

Basseterre, St. Kitts (SKNIS) — The Consumer Affairs Department has come to the rescue of back to school shoppers by providing a comprehensive booklet that outlines textbook and school uniform price comparisons from different outlets in St. Kitts.

The department has stated that it took this initiative as this is an expensive time of the year and understands that shoppers may be concerned about meeting the costs.

The booklet also encompasses several methods to choose from when seeking textbooks. These include buying new or used books, seeking assistance from family or friends to see if the required textbooks are in their possession or join the government-owned Students Learning Fund (SELF) Programme.

The booklet is however not limited to the purchasing of text books and school uniforms but also provides back-to-school shopping tips, how to choose the most suitable shoes for the child, tips for measuring school uniforms, how to wear a backpack tips and a general school checklist.

The department wishes to advise shoppers that prices are subjected to change without the knowledge of the department and the booklet is only a guideline of the price range for the textbooks and school uniforms.

Booklets can be found at the Consumer Affairs Department in the Old Development Bank Building, Church Street, Basseterre.
