Courage and Loyalty at Core of Army Service

PatrickWallace-1Basseterre, St. Kitts (SKNIS) — The Commander of the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force (SKNDF) has charged the newest members under his command to serve the nation with courage and loyalty.

“Courage is the motto of the SKNDF,” Lt. Colonel Patrick Wallace said, while addressing the new graduating class of 16 at the passing out ceremony last Thursday (April 23). “Courage is defined under our motto as our steadfast resolve to succeed in whatever we do; exemplifying boldness of action, decisiveness and stamina to overcome obstacles and achieve our mission despite all odds. It is our aggressive fighting spirit, tenacity and strength of character … the inner strength that leads us as soldiers to do what is right over what is popular.”

In reference to loyalty, Lt. Col. Wallace told the new privates that wearing the uniform signifies loyalty to country, the constitution, the force, their unit and their fellow soldiers.

“I wish to go on record saying how proud I am of all of you,” he stated. “You have applied yourselves assiduously throughout your training, succeeding where some of us thought you would have failed.

“My charge to you is that you serve our federation with loyalty and you must also have the courage to always do what is right and just.”
