Courtesy Call by His Excellency Tatsuo Hirayama, Ambassador of Japan

His Excellency The Governor-General Sir S. W. Tapley Seaton, GCMG, CVO, QC, JP on Monday morning received at Government House His Excellency TATSUO HIRAYAMA, Ambassador designate of Japan to the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Ambassador Hirayama presented his credentials as the new Ambassador and Letters of Recall of his predecessor. This is the Ambassador’s first posting at ambassadorial rank as he previously served as Consul General of Japan in Perth, Australia.

The Ambassador was accompanied by his spouse and the First Secretary. His Excellency and the and the Ambassador reflected on the fact that this is the 34th year of diplomatic relations between their two countries and the several areas of cooperation. These include capacity building, disaster risk reduction, fisheries and the Japan Grant Assistance for Grass roots Human Security Project.

In July 2018, the Federation appointed Her Excellency Jasmine Huggins as Non-resident Ambassador to Japan in an effort to strengthen diplomatic ties and to seek new opportunities for engagement in that region.
