COVID-19 Donation Tally

Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 5, 2020 (ZIZ News): Local donations from individuals and private entities made to the government through the national emergency operations center has surpassed the 200 thousand dollar mark.

The monetary donations have been made to assist with the government’s covid19 efforts in federation.

Minster of State Hon. Wendy Phipps gave the exact figure as it stood on Monday at the NEOC Covid19 daily briefing.

“The total figure that has been received since we started receiving donations on or around the 4th of April if my memory is correct, is $257, 946.00 and this money is coming from a combination of sources; private sector individuals, small businesses as well as private citizens in St. Kitts mostly. I don’t recall that we have had any receipts from private citizens or businesses on the island of Nevis.”

Minister Phipps said the Accountant General Levi Bradshaw is constantly updating the account as she would have seen the account produced for the Ministry of Finance up to three days earlier.
