BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, 27th March, 2020 (Inland Revenue Department) – The St. Kitts and Nevis Inland Revenue Department (IRD) wishes to advise its taxpayers of the tax treatment for items announced as part of the Government’s Stimulus Package in light of the global Covid-19 pandemic.
Effective Tuesday 24th March, 2020, the following items are Zero Rated for VAT purposes for a period of six months:

Hand Sanitizers

Hand Sanitizing Dispensing Machines

Disinfecting Wipes
-
Rubbing Alcohol
-
Gloves
-
Masks
-
Protective Gowns
Please note that any VAT that was collected on these items prior to the announcement must be reported and remitted to the IRD as part of your monthly filing.

The Department further recommends utilizing our user-friendly E-Services platform to fulfill all tax obligations. In addition to the filing of Tax Returns and making tax payments, persons can also renew both their Driver’s License and their Motor Vehicle Registration.
Signing-up for E-Services is quick and easy. Our E-Services is seamless as instructions are provided at every step. We have also deployed additional resources to support your interactions with us online. The online services portal can be accessed via our website at www.sknird.com.
