Cuban Alumni give back
(ZIZ News) — Members of the Cuban Alumni Association have been brightening up the Easter season for several elderly persons in the Lodge and Ottley’s communities.
On Wednesday the group distributed Easter baskets to 7 elderly persons as part of their annual Easter tradition.
Association President, Hollis Prentice spoke to ZIZ News about the event.
“Each year the Cuban Alumni Association gives Easter baskets to the elderly and this year we chose the villages of Ottleys and Lodge to give to the elderly. Why? There are some students of the Cuba Alumni Association from the area that studied in Cuba and we feel as though we should come and support them in this area,” he said.
Earlier Prentice told ZIZ that the goal of the association is to instil in the members a sense of duty to their country that enabled them to further their education for free in Cuba.
