For two weeks, an estimated 200 persons between 8 to 16 years will learn skills in basic computer, art and craft, basketry, airbrushing, video filming, photography, and drumming. The campers will also learn about the culture of the Republic of China (Taiwan) which will be facilitated by personnel from the local Taiwanese Embassy.

Fun activities are also included such as gospel night, pool/water day, movie night, karaoke, field trips, and the camp banquet.

“It was a lot of fun,” explained Hashim Bertie, a camper turned dorm leader as he reflected as his four years on the camp. “I learnt a lot about discipline, responsibility, and values.” The 20-year-old said what he enjoyed most was the socializing with his peers and mentoring the younger persons.

This year’s Summer Residential Camp runs from July 13 to 27.

Meanwhile, the nominating period for the 25 Most Remarkable Teens in St. Kitts and Nevis awards ends on June 04. The programme recognizes the achievements of teenagers in non-traditional categories including dance, courage to overcome, community service, civic involvement, music and others.
