Defence Force holds annual bike exercise

Sunday 10 March 2013, the St Kitts Nevis Defence Force staged its 12th annual cycling exercise around the Island. The sole purpose of the fun Cycling Exercise was geared towards recreation for members of the force to have fun, boost morale, enhance team spirit, endurance and courage and most importantly reinforce commradary. Members of the communities turned out in good numbers to share in the fun exercise.

The St Kitts Nevis Defence Force is full of young men and women with different fascinating talents. Members of the Force are dedicated to being good role models to young people in the society. The fun cycling provides opportunity for an atmosphere of relaxation of sort as soldiers brake out of work routine and interact in a relaxed environment without the usual duty pressure and urgency. The atmosphere can serve to provide recruiting opportunities for those young persons who might have the fascination of the military profession.

Members of the Cadet Corps also turned out for the ride. Efforts like this the Force welcomes, encourages, and seeks to develop to assist every child we have dealing with in the realisation of their true potentials.

The usual stops for rest and refreshment; Mansion’s Village, St Paul’s Village, Sandy Point, Old Road and Buckley’s were observed and refreshment served at each location.

The Commander, St Kitts Nevis Defence Force expresses gratitude and appreciation to the organizations and individuals who made the 12th annual Bike Ride possible through their usual support and contributions especially Hon Marcella Liburd, Minister of Health, Cultural Affairs, Gender Affairs, Social and Community Development and Sugars who have religiously supported the initiatives from inception. All participants completed the fun cycling exercise at 1:00 in the afternoon.
