Delegation returns home from Friday’s RSS meeting in St. Vincent

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, MARCH 26TH 2012 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister, the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas returned home on Saturday after attending the Regional Security System (RSS) Council of Ministers Meeting in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Prime Minister Douglas was accompanied by Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, the Hon. Patrice Nisbett; Commander of the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force, Lt. Colonel Patrick Wallace and Commissioner of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, Mr. C. G. Walwyn.

Ministers and delegates received the Regional Security Co-ordinator’s Report and were updated on the RSS Training Institute and the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative and the RSS/Katz Troublesome Youth Group Study.

The Budget for 2012/2013, the RSS Air Wing, the Unity Exercise (UNEX) 2012 and the creation of a post of Deputy Coordinator were discussed.

Deliberations also took place on the RSS 30th Anniversary celebrations, the Crime Stoppers Programme, the proposed Eastern Caribbean Hydrographic Project and the Advanced Passenger Information System for Small Vessels (eSeaClear).

The Rationalisation of Security Agencies within CARICOM and the Co-ordinating Arrangement between the Governments of the United States and the Regional Security System concerning the cooperating Sensor and Information Integrating (CSII) Programme was also discussed.

Prime Minister Douglas and his delegation returned to the Federation on Saturday.
