Delphic Newtown United lifts Premier Division Cup for the fifth time

ZIZ News…June 17 2012 — Delphic Newtown United is the new SKNFA Premier Division Champions after a well played game before a huge crowd at the Warner Park Football Stadium on Saturday night defeating Conaree Football Club by two goals to nil.

Many had the Newtown team to be the most unlikely team to win the championship from since the start of the season but they showed their experience and perseverance to defeat all odds and eventually went on to defeat Conaree in their second game of the best of three finals.

Both goals came in the first and second half of play from Lecky Saddler in about the fifth minute of play and from Ian Rumpy Lake after taking a free kick in about the eightieth minute.

The win last night gave Delphic Newtown United their fifth hold on the Premier Division title, the most by a Premier division team thus far.

Both teams were presented with their first and second place medals and trophies followed by fireworks which lit up the night sky in celebration of Delphic Newtown Championship and the close of the 2012 football league. Entertainment was provided by the Nu Vybes International and Magic Fingers Ronnie Rascal.

The other two teams contesting the final four were SL Horsfords St. Pauls United Football Club and the Garden Hotspurs Football Club.
