Department of Environmental Health to Intensify efforts this week

HonMarcellaLiburdHeadshotDZIZ News — The Department of Environmental Health, through its Vector Control Programme, has this week, intensified efforts to identify and alleviate possible threats of vector borne diseases.

The April 7th to 11th initiative is being coordinated in collaboration with the Parks and Beaches Unit and the Solid Waste Management Corporation.

In her official World Health Day 2014 address, Federal Minister of Health the Honourable Marcella Liburd explained the logistics of the activity.

“They will be engaged in the removal of derelict vehicles, clearing of identified lots and making presentations on Chikungunya and Dengue at selected work places. Officers will also be sharing information with the general public on the weekly radio programme “Talking Trash,” the Minister outlined.

Also in her address, Minister Liburd recorded appreciation to the employees of the Solid Waste Management Corporation for their commitment to improving the quality of healthcare for residents of and visitors to St. Kitts-Nevis.
