Deputy Prime Minister officially declares Child Month 2016 open
(ZIZ News) — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, The Honourable Shawn Richards has officially declared Child Month 2016 open.
In an address released through St. Kitts Nevis Information Service on Wednesday June 1, the Youth Minister spoke of the importance of focusing on the nation’s children.
“This observance of Child Month puts the spotlight on children and allows us more time to focus more specifically on our most valuable resource. Each parent, guardian, sibling, family member, recognizes the need for children to have right values of respect, kindness honesty, courage, perseverance, self-discipline, compassion, generosity and dependability”, he said.
Minister Richards went on to praise the staff at the early childhood unit.
“I take this opportunity to commend the staff at the Early Childhood Unit and all the other partners for once again organizing an exciting month of activities. Your hard work, dedication and commitment have borne fruit and we are looking forward to this year’s child month of activities”, the Minister added.
Child Month this year is being held under the theme “Instil Values, Build Strong Children, Secure The Future”.
