Diabetes Association meeting on diabetic foot syndrome

Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 2, 2019 (ZIZ News): The St. Kitts Diabetes Association will be hosting its quarterly meeting on Sunday at the Anglican Church Hall at 3pm on the topic Diabetic Foot Syndrome.

Officials from the St. Kitts Diabetes Association said that the quarterly meetings are aimed at educating the public on a particular topic related to diabetes in order to promote awareness so that they can do what is necessary to prevent it.

Public Relations Officer for the St. Kitts Diabetes Association, Dr. Reginald O’Loughlin explained what the meeting will entail.

“We’ll have a well selected panel of experts, people who work within the area, we’ll have the surgeon, and we’ll have a foot care nurse who will be able to demonstrate how to check the feet to see exactly what is happening and how you care for the feet at home and we will have of course members of the Diabetes Association executive, president etc to be able to highlight everything foot related and diabetes related.”

Dr. O’Loughlin also mentioned that during the meeting 5 audience members will be selected to get a free blood sugar test.

The St. Kitts Diabetes Association is also preparing to commemorate World Diabetes Day which is celebrated on November 14th each year.

Transportation will be provided for persons attending the quarterly meeting. The bus entitled “Secret” will be coming from St. Pauls via Sandy Point and the bus entitled “Good Vibes Alone” will be coming from St. Peters to Molineux. Persons are asked to be at the pickup points by 2pm.
